Tonight Ariel and I are going to be live-blogging while watching the Psych episodes Ariel has missed and drinking. Commence intoxication. P.S. Im already really tired due to being awake for 17 hours and traveling, so expect quick degradation.

The Good Wife, Season Finale

TUMBLAH!!!!!

Let me start off my t.v. finale rants with one of my favorite shows … drumroll …

THE GOOD WIFE! OAMGAJDGL;K!

So The Good Wife left off on a crazy season finale that we all should’ve seen coming - Alicia decided to leave Lockhart Gardner. Now a couple of months ago when I read this possible spoiler I was like ‘OH NO ALICIA DON’T DO IT IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LITTLE FANDOM LIFE OH GOD PLEASE NO!’ But then by the time the season finale came around I was on the edge of my seat like ‘OMG WHOSE AT THE DOOR, WHO DID SHE CALL, WAS IT CARY OR WILL, CARY OR WILL, OMG I HOPE IT WAS CARY, OH NO IT WAS TOTALLY WILL, NO IT HAS TO BE CARY CAUSE THAT’S WHO THEY’VE BEEN TEASING ABOUT, NO IT’S TOTALLY WILL CAUSE THAT WAS TOTALLY A PLANT SPOILER, OMG OMG OMG IT’S CARY.’

Since then I’ve had a bit of time to cool down and analyze this change. And let me tell you, I am actually very pleased with this shift in events. At the beginning of the season I was very pro-Will/Alicia and Lockhart & Gardner, but then after a really bumpy and long and winding road of a season I’m seeing my allegiances shift, which I believe is the mark of a great show. If a show can essentially change your shipping with a single season and make you question characters you thought you loved, in agonizingly beautiful ways, then it is an amazing show, no doubt. This is one of the things I love about The Good Wife- they’re not afraid to try things. And they don’t even know what Alicia is going to do next. Alicia is just such a real character. She’s not the eternally faithful “good” wife that the show implies - she’s hurt, she seeks revenge, she’s prone to infatuation and temptation, and she is fiery as all hell. All of which make her top-notch in my book.

Now why am I liking Peter/Alicia more and more now? Well for one, Peter is kick-ass. Well, he’s always been that way, I’ve always loved Peter, but I’ve always thought Alicia could do better (much like her mother), but then I realized WILL is NOT better. You see I am a sucker for old friends turned lovers, and I think it has blinded me to the fact that Will actually has a very shady past. They’ve hinted at this over and over in the show, and he’s proven to be very selfish and thrill-seeking. And yes he has shown to care about Alicia above all things, but so does Peter, and I believe Peter has sincerely attempted to atone for his affair, whereas I don’t think Will is atoning for whatever baggage he has in his past. Some of Will’s actions (along with Diane and the rest of the partners) this past season have made me really chanting to Alicia to ‘run, run away as fast as you can!’

Which brings me to the next thing I want to discuss - Cary starting his own firm. Cary has always been one of my favorite characters (lets face it, everyone is my favorite on this show), and I don’t think they use him nearly enough. He is very competent, very sly, a fun character, and a born leader. I think his leading the 4th years to start their own firm is a brilliant storyline, and I think one of the partners’ biggest mistakes this season was assuming Alicia was the ringleader when it was always Cary. I like the pair of Alicia & Cary and I am very excited to see where they will go. I am also immensely happy that they’l no longer be under the rule of David Lee, because he has been a royal bastard this season. The one tragedy in all of this is - Kalinda. Will she stay at Lockhart & Gardner? I think the biggest tragedy of the season may possibly be the break-up of the dream team Kalinda, Cary, and Alicia.

Every year I give NBC a chance to be better but then they pull stuff like this. Go On was a great show, it was my favorite new comedy. And then NBC had to cancel it.
